Caring For Your Jewellery

Care and Cleaning: Naturally metal will oxidise over time so it’s important that you take care of your jewellery. We want you to love and enjoy your jewellery for as long as possible, so it is advised that you follow the recommended care instructions.

Over time tarnishing and oxidisation can occur for many reasons and Sterling Silver will generally tarnish faster in humid climates and places with high levels of air pollution. Products such as perfume, hairspray, deodorant, sunscreen, cleaning product and moisturisers can all contribute to further tarnishing of your silver pieces and damage to precious stones due to the chemicals reacting with the silver. Natural oxidisation is not a fault of the jewellery and this is something that happens to all types of metals over time and not within our control.

It is recommended that you remove your jewellery before you go swimming in both salt and chlorinated water, while exercising and prior to showering. It is also recommended that you avoid storing your jewellery in rooms with high moisture levels such as a bathroom. Also avoid storing jewellery in the boxes they are sent in, they are for shipping purposes only. It is best to store your jewellery individually in a dry, cool place and away from sunlight and we are not liable to compensate customers for any reactions that are caused by our jewellery.

Pearls should only be worn occasionally due to the delicate nature of the gem stone. To clean oxidised silver after wear, gently wipe with a soft cleaning cloth and do not use a liquid silver dip solution as this will remove the oxidisation.

To keep your jewellery in the best condition, we recommend wiping your jewellery with a gentle jewellery cloth (or your sunglasses cloth should do the trick!) after each wear. This will remove any unwanted blemishes and chemicals from the surface of your jewellery and will also bring the sparkle back to your cherished pieces.
